2013 Donkervoort D8 GTO

One translation of “Donkervoort” could be, “Do you want to go fast? Like REALLY fast?” You can’t get much faster than what the D8 GTO delivers. In fact, the only thing that puts a damper on its top speed of over 160mph is aerodynamic drag. If 160mph in an open-top car doesn’t impress you, the D8 GTO’s acceleration undoubtedly will. This is a car built with pure performance in mind with “no compromise,” as the Donkervoort motto states. What you have here is essentially a carbon-fiber bodied Lotus 7 with a specially prepared turbo five-cylinder from the Audi TT RS. Colin Chapman would be proud of what Donkervoort has done here, because the D8 GTO is lightness paired with even more lightness. Barely registering over the 1,500-lb. mark, if you had two D8 GTOs, they still wouldn’t equal the weight on one Audi TT RS. There is no power steering, no ABS, no power-assisted brakes, and no traction or stability control. The D8 GTO is a seat-of-the-pants driving experience like no other.
