2006 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution IX MR

The Evo IX comes in three flavors: the stripped-down RS, the base model, and the MR. They all utilize the same 2-liter turbocharged and intercooled engine, the same all-wheel drive system, and sport similar aggressive rally-inspired sheetmetal. Where the MR differs is in the details, which may be small but are certainly not inconsequential. Take the aluminum roof panel, which lowers the center of gravity and provides a noticeable difference in roll characteristics. Then there’s the roof-mounted vortex generators, looking like shark’s teeth but acting to quell drag-inducing air flow issues. Uprated shocks and lightweight alloys are naturally part of the package as well, but it’s the 325-horsepower engine and the incredible performance it allows (60 mph takes just 4.6 seconds) that make the MR one of the greatest Mitsubishis ever created.
